One of the darkest variants of lettuce, Merlot lettuce is Incredibly high in antioxidants which makes it a popular leafy green in the kitchen. This type of lettuce is best known for its waxy and crispy leaves along with its dark red color. Merlot lettuce is very slow to bolt and the baby lettuce leaves can be continuously harvested early on in the plants growing cycle. Merlot lettuce are best used in salads and should be ready to harvest in 8 weeks but its baby greens can be harvested within 4 weeks. Some possible recipes that use this type of lettuce are gorgonzola pear salad with shallot dressing and mixed lettuces with creamy sumac dressing.
